Having trouble importing your Eudora addresses into your Palm Pilot?
This utility easily converts Eudora 4.x
Nickname files to a text tab or comma delimited file to be imported into
the 3ComTM Palm Desktop®, version 3.0. OR to an HTML file which can be viewed in any common web browser.

Notice: If you downloaded this file before 2-11-99, you might have a version that does not import names and phone numbers correctly - I apologize for the inconvenience. Please download the file again and re-install. If the
version you have DOES import first and last names, ignore this message.

A .zip file requires software that can extract
from Zip archives, such as Winzip, http://www.winzip.com
To Install:
Click on setup.exe and follow the prompts,
or, if you are in a WinZip window, choose "Actions | Install" and follow
the prompts. If it prompts you to reboot your machine, do so and
then restart the installation afterwards.
To Convert:
The left browse button is to pick the
Eudora Nickname file you wish to convert (usually found in \eudora\nickame
or \eudora), and the right browse button is to pick the folder where the
converted file will be placed. The checkboxes in the "Import Fields" area
designate whether or not you want to import those fields from your Eudora Nickname file. Uncheck the box
if you do NOT wish to import the corresponding field. Then choose "comma" or "tab" to pick which method you wish to delimit the data (some Palm desktop software only supports Tab delimiting).
When the conversion is complete do the
following in your Palm Desktop software:
- Click on the "Address" button
at left to bring the Address List up.
- Pick the address category
from the dropdown menu into which you want to import your converted Eudora
names (or create a new category from Tools | Categories on the main menu.
You might want to create a new category if you don't want to risk duplicate
names being created within the same category.)
- From the main menu, choose:
File | Import and browse to the folder where you saved the "converted.tab" or "converted.csv"
file. In the dropdown menu "Files of type:", choose "Comma Separated(".csv;".txt)" or Tab, depending on how you exported the file (above).
You should now see the file that you converted.
- Highlight the "converted.txt"
file with your mouse and click "Open" to import the file.
- At this point, you may scan
the records, making sure that the fields on the left match up correctly
with their values on the right - if they don't, you can simply click
on a field name on the left and drag it up or down the list to match the data on the right (this will change all the records to be imported, so you don't have to do this for every one). When you are finished, click "Ok" to complete the import.
